If this will be your first time visiting Crimson Acres
we want to welcome you to our local blueberry farm! Crimson Acres offers u-pick and pre-picked organic blueberries, we are conveniently located right off the I-82 freeway between Benton City and Prosser. There are a few things listed below that may be helpful to you as you visit us the first time:
What to bring with you while you are picking
- Containers/ Coolers to transport berries home from the farm. We do provide a vented bag to take the berries home in free of charge, as well as a picking bucket.
- Currently we accept cash or debit/credit cards (U-pick price is $4.00/lb.)
- Things to keep you cool and safe in our summer heat (water, sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, etc....)
- Choose the clothes you come to pick in carefully as blueberries can stain if their juice gets on light colored clothing, also wear shoes that you can walk safely in as there may be uneven ground.
Where to Park
Come on down the driveway and we have a graveled parking area with designated parking available.
Hours of Operation
Heat plays a role in the ability to pick quality fruit, therefore we will post our hours of operation on our website (Under the "Picking Hours" tab.) We will keep them updated throughout the picking season. If you have any questions regarding whether or not picking is open, give us a call. We normally open for U-pick Monday thru Saturdays from 7 am to 12pm, and are closed on Sundays. If you are only able to pick in the evenings, call and let us know and we will attempt to accommodate you. We cannot open for everyone, but if you intend to pick a large quantity of fruit or their is a group of you, we can be flexible. We enjoy having our berries picked and enjoyed by you and are more then happy to work with your schedules!
Picking Tips
Our blueberry cultivars do not all ripen at the same time. Here at Crimson Acres we currently have five different cultivars each ripening at a different time. To ensure that you will get the best fruit please stick to the marked rows while picking. If you are unsure feel free to ask us what the ripened fruit looks like. Each blueberry bush will have its berries ripen over a span of a couple weeks. In order to find the ripe blueberries, look for deep blue colored berries with a "bloom" (white like film), when you grab the berry it should just fall off into your hand, if you have to pull on it, it is not quite ready!
Pets
Because of the food/handling safety guidelines we follow, Crimson Acres has a strict NO OUTSIDE PETS on the farm policy. Please do not bring them onto the property on a leash or left in the car. We appreciate your cooperation in not bringing your animals onto the premises.
